A matter of touch: all types of printing paper
What printed matter communicates is also closely linked to the type of paper that is chosen for its creation. Indeed, from a sensory point of view, paper involves first of all touch, so it will be different to caress a product printed on a more porous uncoated paper, rather than on a matte or glossy coated paper.
The paper used also affects the visual impact of the printed matter, giving its colours more, or less, prominence and brightness. In short, depending on the type of product you need, its intended use and the message you wish to communicate, the choice will fall on one type of printing paper rather than another.
Paper of a certain “weight”.
Not only the type of paper is important, but also its weight: depending on the type of product and, above all, the intended use, its thickness will vary (from 60 to 300 grams) and may even require card.

Uncoated paper
This is a type of natural, porous, soft paper that offers a natural feeling of to the touch. It is suitable for a type of printed matter where a lot of text will be written, as it easily absorbs ink: this is the case, for example, of notepads, letterheads and planners.
Matte coated paper and glossy coated paper
Coated paper is characterised by a “patina” on its surface, obtained using specific chemical additives during the manufacturing process. Based on the degree of gloss, we distinguish between matte coated paper and glossy coated paper. These types of paper, unlike the uncoated paper, absorb less ink, keeping it on the surface: the result will be an image with brighter and more vivid colours. Coated papers are used for photographic volumes, catalogues, leaflets, flyers and, more generally, for commercial printed matter.

Recycled paper
Recycled paper comes from waste paper, that is, the good fibres recovered during the recycling of other paper. It comes in different shades, from white to dark brown, and gives the product a vintage and “aged” look.
Marked paper
Marked paper is characterised by the presence, within its fibres, of a certain texture, such as hammering or embossing. The result is sophisticated and elegant, ideal for business cards or special invitations, precious covers, etc.

FSC paper
At Seventyseven we are always very careful to implement eco-sustainable actions, to respect the environment and people. That is why we tend to advise customers to use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper, which is obtained through responsible management of forests – ensuring their regeneration – and of the entire transformation process, both from an environmental and social point of view.
